FDA Announces Recall on Powerful M&M’s Products in 20 States

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall issued by Beacon Promotions Inc. on repackaged M&M’s products that do not contain the correct allergen warning as required by the FDA. The candies may contain milk, soy, and peanuts, but the packaging does not disclose the proper allergen warnings.

On Jan. 26, Beacon Promotion Inc. issued a recall on more than 6,000 units of M&M’s candies that were labeled with a variety of promotional company names. On Feb. 4, the FDA classified the recall as Class II, meaning eating the candy “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.”

How To Identify the Recalled M&M’s Candies

The recalled packages all contained M&M’s candies, but were distributed in packaging that was labeled for promotional purposes. At this time, a select lot of 1.3-ounce bags of M&M’s Peanut candies and classic M&M’s candies in promotional packaging have been recalled.

You can identify the recalled repackaged M&M’s Peanut candies by looking for “Make Your Mark” labels with the lot code M1823200 and “best by” date of April 30, 2026.

The recalled repackaged regular M&M’s candies contain any of the following promotional labels or packages: Next Up; Smith Pro; Jaxport, Jacksonville Port Authority; Climax Molybdenum, A Freeport-McMoRan Company; University of Maryland, School of Public Policy; Liberty University Environmental Health & Safety; Subaru; Trinity Cyb3r; Candy Treats; JSE, Jordan & Skala Engineers; Dropbox DocSend; PP, Prosperity Promotions; Northwest Indian College Foundation; FES Branding Solutions; Berkshire Hathaway Guard Insurance Companies; merry maids Annual 26 Conference; BW, Best Western; Morgan Stanley; tufin; Compliments of Pioneer; A.D. Morgan, Construction Manager, Design Builder, General Contractor; Adobe; Xfinity; Fundermax Interiors; White Cup; Acadia Commercial; Aviagen; ORG Expo; and Make Your Mark.

The recalled M&M’s products all have the lot code L450ARCLV03 with a “best by” date of 12/1/2025; the lot code L502FLHKP01 with a “best by” date of 1/1/2026; the lot code L523CMHKP01 with a “best by” date of 6/30/2026; or the lot code L537GMHKP01 with a “best by” date of 9/1/2026.

The recalled repackaged M&M’s were distributed in 20 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

What To Do if You Have the Recalled M&M’s Candies

Beacon Promotions Inc. issued a recall on the M&M’s candies because the promotional packaging that the candies were repackaged in did not disclose allergen warnings for peanuts, soy, or milk.

Therefore, if you have the recalled M&M’s or Peanut M&M’s and have any nut, soy, or milk allergies or sensitivities, you should not consume them, as eating the candy could trigger a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction. Instead, throw the recalled M&M’s away.

However, if you do not have a nut, milk, or soy allergy, you do not need to respond to this recall. The candies were only recalled due to a labeling error that did not disclose the proper allergens and not because they are inherently unsafe to consume.
